kawasaki 636r 2002

For 2002, Kawasaki took a novel approach to the highly competitive 600cc sports class - it simply bored out its ZX-&r engine by 2mm to 68mm, making the capacity 37cc bigger. This was made possible by an earlier change - the 2000 model update had replaced the old engine’s steel liners with a plated aluminium bore. The new design gave extra space round the cylinders, which allowed the larger bore. The engine cases had to be modified to provide more gasket area around the larger cylinder, and the cylinder head was modified to provide the optimum combustion chamber shape for the new bore size. The res of the ZX-636R is largely unchanged from the 2001-model ZX-6R.

thats NOT a 636. Any bike person, not to mention Kawi rider will be able to tell you that. It appears to be the 06 ZZR, but I may be mistaken because I’m not sure if Kawasaki made the ZX6R in silver before changing the model. In addition, 636’s were not made in 2002.

  2. AJ Says:

Sorry Kait, have to disagree as my other half actually owned an 02 636. Not sure about the colour - they were in red and green for sure…not sure about the Silver. It may have been an early 02.

Anyways, super machine with loads of grunt; shame he got rid of it earlier this year!

  3. MM Says:

    The 2006-2008 zzr600 is the same bike as a 2000-2002 zx6r.

  4. Northwind Says:

Kait knows nothing, I assume he’s a US rider and assumes that US models and paint schemes are all that exists :)
